The Class of 1952-53 will hold their 8th Annual "Round-Up" Picnic on June 27, 2009 at Arcadia Park from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Everyone is invited to join in on the fun. According to Floyd Jeter, "If you have never attended one of our annual picnics, you don't know what pleasures you've missed. Seeing old classmates and reminiscing is a treasure at this time of our lives. "We're not getting any younger, so join us for that once ayear good time. It's a catered affair and the food is always yummy!". |

In the late 1880s, Japan allowed its people to emigrate for the first time in 300 years. Japan had begun to become an industrialized nation and was forced to allow some of its agricultural workers to leave because of lack of land. An increase in population also contributed to the Japanese government's decision to end the centuries of isolation and let some Japanese depart from their homeland. Those who emigrated came from various parts of Japan, but in general, they were leaving the southern islands. Since the beginning, thousands of Japanese came to California every year. |
